Outlook eroare (error) 0x80040201

This could happen on systems which have used Exchange but have changed back to POP3 E-mail delivery. Checking the to-be-sent messages is the key, remove the adresses that are exchange adresses and substitute them with the real POP E-mail adresses.

Error 0x80040201 in Outlook appeared after trying to send new mail to SOME of recipients! I suppose, that were recipients, who already recieved some mail while I was using EXCHANGE account to send them.

NOTE: I have no addresses in my outlook adressbook! But while creating new mail and typing some email address Outlook get it from, IMHO, send folder =) I.e. mail sent over exchange accout!

NOTE2: You are able to view some properties by right-button-clicking on address (name) in the “TO:” field. When I did this, I recieved in one case and Error (something about “can’t find object), in other case a windows “Message properties”, where field “Email type” was set to “EX” (instead of “SMTP”)

SO! The solution is – to change recipient properties and set EMAIL TYPE to SMTP, and EMAIL ADDRESS to something like “(E-Mail Removed)” and do not use auto-substitution of recipient, or DELETE cache record in pop-down list by pressing UP, DOWN and DELETE button on keyboard and then typing email again…

The other way is by opening the profile folder and deleting the .nk2 file.

* Open up windows explorer, and paste the following into the address bar: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook
* Delete the Outlook.NK2 file that you find in this folder.
* delete all NK2 files

Regenerating Temporary Terminal Server CALS

From time to time it becomes necessary to regenerate temporary terminal server licenses. Whether it be a genuine error which is preventing you from using temporary licenses or the fact that someone “forgot” to purchase TSCALS within the grace period allowed by Microsoft.

In my experience the below will fix 99.9% of problems surrounding temporary licenses and let you get back up and running with enough time to source some legitimate TSCALS.

*Note: These only apply to temporary licenses. If you are running a system with permanent TSCALS make sure you fully back your licenses up before doing this. If you don’t you will have to call the Microsoft Clearing House to get your TSCALS back.

On the client:

Start up regedit.exe. Drill down to HKEY_LM\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing and delete this whole key.

On the server itself:

Go to Control Panel, Administritive tools, Services manager.

STOP Terminal Server Licensing Manager Service.

Delete contents of %systemroot%\system32\Lserver directory.

RESTART Terminal Server Licensing Manager Service.

As an absolute final resort (on the server):

Caution:Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on the computer.

To set a preferred license server by using the registry (on Windows Server 2003)
On the license server, open Registry Editor. To open Registry Editor, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate, and then click, the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
CurrentControlSet\Services\
TermService\Parameters
On the Edit menu, point to New, click Key, and then type LicenseServers to name the new key.
Locate, and then click, the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
\Services\TermService\Parameters
\LicenseServers

On the Edit menu, point to New, click Key, and then type ServerNamewhere ServerName is one of the following:

– The FQDN of the server (for example, Server1.contoso.com)

– The NetBIOS name of the server(for example, Server1)

– The IP address of the server (for example, 206.73.118.1)

Automatic Completion (tab) in Command Prompt (cmd)

To Activate Automatic Completion
For example, to change to the Program Files folder, you can type cd \pro control_character. Or, to display the contents of the Myfile.txt file, you can type type myf control_character. If there are multiple folders or files that match the characters you type, typing the control character again displays the next matching instance. When the correct folder or file is displayed, press ENTER to complete the command. If no folder of file matches the characters that you type, you hear a beep.

You can activate or deactivate this feature for a computer, for a user, or for only the current command session.

To Activate Automatic Completion in the Current Session
To activate automatic completion for the current command session, type cmd /f. Then type CTRL+D to complete a folder name or CTRL+F to complete a file name.

To deactivate automatic complete, type cmd /f:off.

To Activate Automatic Completion Permanently:
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. To enable automatic completion for the computer, locate and click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor key.
3. To enable automatic completion for the current user, locate and click the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor key.
4. For folder name completion, double-click the CompletionChar value. Type in hexadecimal the control character that you want to use.

For example, if you want to use the TAB key as the control character, the control character is 0x9 (type 9 as the value; Windows converts it to hexadecimal). If you want to use the same control characters that you use for a single command session, type 0x4 for CTRL+D and 0x6 for CTRL+F. You can use the same control character for both folder and file name completion.
5. For file name completion, double-click the PathCompletionChar value.

Quit Registry Editor.
If you enable this feature for the computer, the feature is available to all users. However, you can deactivate the feature for any individual user, or you can use different control characters for that user than you applied to the computer. The user settings take precedence over the computer settings.
